
The Carrington youth fellowship Initiative (CYFI) a programme by the US consulate Nigeria has consistently Impact on the economy of Nigeria and the development of Nigerian youths over the years. The programme brings together the brightest leadership inclined young Nigerians for training, mentorship, and execution of developmental projects in Nigeria in the following areas: Economic Empowerment, Education, Health, Good Governance and Civil Liberties.
The Economic Empowerment team on Saturday 21st of January 2017 commenced The Second phase of PROJECT EMPOWERED; the training of ten unemployed Makoko youths on modern fish processing with eco-friendly ovens, fish packaging and the application of social media marketing and corporate business models in marketing and growing their business by seasoned and successful young Nigerian businessmen and speakers. On successful completion of the four weeks training exercise, each of the ten participants in a closing ceremony were awarded with Eco-friendly ovens and seed capital to kick-start their fish processing business in Makoko (A fishing community), Lagos state.
